Going Halfway
FCA’s Mission, OUR Mission is: “To present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.” As you look at our mission, I want to highlight and remind us all of one point… we are a presenting ministry.

Ministry Idea: Novice Outreach
Have you been in the sport for awhile? If so, you likely have a lot to offer a novice runner, triathlete or cyclist!

Web Site Development: I just wanted to remind everyone to continue checking our our web site over the next few weeks. We're continuing to clean it up and adding some cool new features. Some of which are already in the works, namely the "Endurance Articles" (updated twice a week) on the home page and the Training Page. Hopefully by going through the site content, you'll be inspired, better equipped, and more prepared to tell people about Christ and the Team you're on. Oh, and don't forget to invite your friends to check out the site!
Summer Ministry Events
Much like this spring, our summer has been blessed beyond measure with amazing opportunities! Here's a brief sample of what our Team has been up to.

Prayer Team: Just a quick reminder about our
Prayer Team and the monthly prayer calendar available through our site. Praying for our ministry and those needs brought to the Prayer Team's attention is vital to our ministry's overall health, and we are deeply grateful for each prayer that goes up on our behalf.

Yahoo Calendar: Looking to connect at an event? Please load your races and contact info on our Yahoo Group Calendar. This will allow Teammates to see who is racing where and help you all connect before and at events. The calendar will also be used by the Prayer Team as a list of events and athletes to pray over.
New FCA Half Marathon and 10K
Gulf Coast FCA is putting on a new Half Marathon and 10K this October 11th near Sarasota, FL. The race is being directed by FCA Endurance National Leadership Board Member Lisa Lawson, and we are excited about this event! To get involved, check out the race site: www.runfca.com

Kona Outreach
It's time to start planning for our presence at the 2008 Ironman World Championships in Kona, HI. For the past 2 years, we've been able to have an amazing presence there, and we've got it on our radar for October. To get there, we could use some help...

Gear Update: The Louis Garneau triathlon gear is in, and it is sweet! Our initial order was based on previously expressed interest, so quantities are limited. However, if interest remains high, we will reorder in the future. All of our gear is available through Valley Bike and Ski.
Running Optional: We've got a slowly growing number of endurance in-line skaters. Perhaps we should challenge FCA Skateboarding to a race :-) Looks like fun, and it's much easier on the joints. God bless your ministry to this community!

Whitney Classic Partnership: Are you looking for a crazy hard bike event that helps spread Jesus’ love? For the 3rd year in a row, we are a partner of Summit Adventure’s Whitney Classic. This is a 135 mile ride from Death Valley to the Mt. Whitney Portal on September 27-28. Teammate Tony DiLorenzo conquered it last year… any takers for ’08?
FCA Endurance Little League? Just had to share this photo. Coeur d’Alene Huddle Leader Scott Burkhardt sponsored a little league baseball team for his son Brandon (photo) this summer. Guess what he had put on all the little jerseys? Way to minister to the boys and community Scott!

Huddle Blips
Boise- They were successful in hosting 3 local crits in June and July, and this has been a great way to serve the cycling community and build awareness of FCA Endurance. They even hosted a kid’s crit after one of the races (photo above). They have also been very busy with group training and other local events. Lastly, they are planning their second annual Huddle retreat for later this month.
Phoenix- In June they helped put on a youth sports camp, and in July they held a one-day endurance training conference put on by local coaches and field experts including Teammates JR Rosania, Jason Ford, Alisa Keeton, and John Foster. The speakers were able to share both their expertise and their faith in Christ with the attendees! They’ve got a number of race ministry events coming up and an after-school running class in the works. Great job Debbie, and thanks to the Phoenix Team for partnering in this ministry!
Middle Tennessee- They had a busy June, serving and racing at many local runs… even one triathlon :-) They’re looking forward to a busy fall when the running season picks back up.
Dallas- The Huddle continues to pick-up momentum through serving and participating in local events. They were also key in our BSL 70.3 ministry! Tom, JB, and the gang are looking for other TX Teammates to organize around the state.
KC- They’ve been doing a weekly run, celebrating fitness together. A group of 10 KC Teammates are also vanning up to Minnesota for the 3rd annual FCA-E Burnsville 5K!
San Diego- Teammate David Wilcox has been called into Huddle Leadership, and we are excited to see how he and the SD Huddle can impact southern California!
Detroit- Doug Fowler is rallying the troops, and they had a group swim/run brick in July. They’ve got a number of ideas brewing, and I’m excited about the growing enthusiasm in the Motor City.
Minneapolis- We’ve been continuing our weekly training ride and served at a local race in June through manning the transition area. One of our Teammates was also the race day announcer there, and it was great to have Christian music playing throughout the event! Up next, our 5K and partnering with a local off-road triathlon.
Greenville- Our newest Huddle, and 4th in South Carolina. Thanks to Clay Driggers and Joe Dannelly for answering the call to start and lead this group!
